moonlight rambling!

Courtesy of Sam Fok, we're getting together a Will Bike for Food moonlight ramble team...here's the low down:

Fellow Bikers/Humans!

The end of summer is nigh, and the Moonlight Ramble is near! If you've never heard about it, the Moonlight Ramble is a gigantonormotacular nighttime bike ride fundraiser with 10,000+ riders in St. Louis. It will be during the night between the first Saturday/Sunday after school starts, August 29/30th so nobody can say they wont be here!
http://www.moonlightramble.org/ramble/

Will Bike for Food will be skirting the $30 general entrance fee by volunteering for the event! In fact, they'll even give us free t-shirts and free food for volunteering! And if we get 10 or more volunteers together (which should be no problem!) they'll even give Will Bike for Food, get this, a FRAMED, COMMEMORATIVE CERTIFICATE!!! H-O-L-Y M-O-L-Y.

For sign up, go to http://www.moonlightramble.org/signup_volunteer.aspx and fill out the form.
Since we're in a big group, you don't need to put too much time into the "Volunteer Experience" box.
Be sure to check off at least the following in the "Tell Us The Position/s For Which You're Most Skilled (check all that apply)" section:
  • Route Marshal
  • Set Up
And, most importantly!!!!!!!! copy & paste the following into the "Additional Information" section:
I am with the WashU Will Bike for Food group.
This is the only way the moonlight ramble people will know that we are a group since we're not filling out a formal group application because it'd be hard to get all the waivers in one location.

The bottom of your form should look like the attached screenshot!!!!!!!!!

Invite your friends, enemies, and mere acquaintances alike! oh and let me know if you're in.

local and delicious

In honor of the gorgeous weather this weekend, let's go biking. Will Bike for Food will be making our way to Local Harvest (http://www.localharvestcafe.com/), for some lunch-time eats. It is all local and fun and delicious, and a quick seven mile ride there.

Meet at the History Museum at noon tomorrow, and be hungry! Bring your bicycles and helmets (and a bag if you want to buy something from the local harvest grocery). Nom nom!

candy and crowns

Time for another Wednesday night will bike for food! We're heading to Crown Candy kitchen in north St. Louis, a delicious and awesome place that has been around since 1913. Get hungry for some XL milkshakes...mmmm.

It's a quick 6.5 mile ride there, and we'll take our time getting back as to not upset our deliciously full bellies. Mobot or checking out the new sculpture park are also options for anyone who's interested afterward.

We're meeting at the history museum at 5:30 pm, and will be heading down Lindell from there. It will be on some bigger roads than usual, so wear a helmet if you have one. Bring some cash for dinner/milkshakes/candy as well.

Although there will be some biking going on the night before, don't let that keep you from coming out and enjoying some great stl food and riding.

Hope to see you there!

midsummer night

Sophia:it's amazing all of the things we accomplished in 5 hours
11:49 AM usually it seems like you would lose time biking places, having so many people, etc
11:52 AM me: true
we biked, lemonaded, marketed, friended, potlucked (pretty much), dined, hung out at mobot, met people, and listened to music
11:53 AM impressive
Sophia: exactly

schafly and market and mobot!

Time for another foodie ride! Here's the low-down on our adventure, which will start this evening at the history museum.

We will be departing at 5 pm for Schafly Bottleworks to hit up the Maplewood farmer's market. It's only open Wednesdays from 4-7 pm, and I've heard good things. After stocking up on some food (and drink?), we're going to trek to the Missouri Botanical Gardens in Tower Grove, where there are free jazz concerts on Wednesday nights. We'll cook some food there, and chow down on what we bought while picnicing in the gardens. When we've had our fill of food and music, we'll head back to the history museum (around 8:30 maybe). Total is only around 12 miles, but we can always detour a little (there's a new sculpture park downtown that is opening tonight).

Since actually preparing food involves a little coordination, we're asking you for a few things. Nothing too painful:
1. RSVP. Shoot me an email if you think you can come, so we can plan for how many people we'll have.
2. Bring $3 to cover costs. We might not need this, but this would be for condiments/plates/buns/
whatever we need to make this into an actual dinner.
3. Bring money to buy food, or some food for the picnic.
4. Bring a bag to carry food in.

So meet at the front of the history museum at 5 pm. If you can't get off of work or whatever that early, you are welcome to meet us along the way (just give me a call). The concert starts at 7:30 pm, so you could even come for that.

an 8 mile ride in each direction will certainly make you feel guilt free while lip smack attacking your sugar fried dough.
