Everyone is invited. We meet up somewhere near Wash U's campus, and ride somewhere between 10-20 miles on some type of food excursion. Grab a bike and join us!
This "group" has four goals: 1) Explore St. Louis, 2) Allow many different students and others to connect with one another, 3) Promote biking as a viable method of transportation, and 4) Eat some great food!Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.comBlogger30125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-47164619396448182012011-05-29T20:44:00.000-07:002011-05-29T20:52:25.786-07:00Check out Velo Bear!Hello everyone!<br />Be sure to <span style="font-weight: bold;">check out Velo Bear from now on</span> to find weekly rides and adventures. (Even if you don't have a bike, we invite you to join our tour to Taste of St. Louis via metro - It's just a simple walkable distance from metro)<br />It is the greatest opportunity for food-lovers (those who live to eat, not eat to live) including myself to explore what gourmets there are in St. Louis, for the best of the best restaurants would be competiting their pride and tastes each other by giving free samples to public! It's open to public, free admission and for all ages! What can there be greater opportunity than that? :D<br /><br />It would be an awesome stress relief for those of you who are relieved from the tests this week and it would be a study-break for those who have tests coming up next week, so let's keep it positive spirits! We can eat delicious foods and rock the test at the same time!<br /><br />Date: Sunday October 3rd,<br /><br />Place to Meet: Brookings Hall (We will start biking from Brookings hall to Taste of St. Louis which is near by Union station and Civic Center Station, and those of you who do not have a bike, will take a metro in Skinker Station)<br /><br />Time: 3:30 p.m (but don't worry, Taste of St. Louis goes until 9 p.m. We will sit and eat and bike and eat more until you stuff annual worth of foods in your belly)<br />Also, to note: For those of you who wish to come back early, you are welcome to bring Metro passes with you so that you can take metro on the way back. (I highly encourage all of you to bring metro passes in case)<br /><br />The place is roughly an hour away by biking, so we should be back by latest 7p.m. (but 6 p.m for those who take metro back)<br /><br />The weather may be little chillier, so make sure you wear (or have) something warm, and bring a filled water bottle like a person of good spirit.<br /><br />Also I would appreciate it if you can reply to this mail only if you are going and whether you would be going via metro or via bike (so that I can get head counts. :) )<br /><br />Also, if you don't have a bike, we can get a group of people to get there by metro and enjoy the taste of st. Louis!<br /><br />Tons of funs and events at the Taste of St. Louis is awaiting for you!<br /><br />Love and Peace,<br /><br />Karin Underwood and Paul AhnCrazy Uncle Paul Ahnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16968013936256810480noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-41227607450910356552010-07-29T13:44:00.000-07:002010-07-29T13:54:59.626-07:00Gioia's Deli<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#663333;"><b>Hey pals. Let's bike... for Humanity.<br />
This Tuesday, Architecture for Humanity is holding their long awaited happy hour and bake sale at the Schlafly Tap Room. This will be a great chance to support our fine local brewery, socially conscious young designers, and the excellent local band Last to Show First to Go. At no other event of the summer will you be able to get Miriam's famous summer squash cookies, drink Schlafly and listen to ex-professors (Mikey Naucas/Phil Valco) sing uptempo love songs.<br />
<br />
Is this too good to be true... No!<br />
Meet in front of Brookings to leave at 5:30.<br />
Arrive before 6, just in time for the band!<br />
<br />
Get Happy!<br />

The fantastic, the delicious <span style="color: #330099; font-size: medium;">Ted Drewes</span> custard.<br />
<br />
If you have only had it at Wash U in those frozen little cups of plain vanilla or chocolate, you are missing out. Time to experience it for yourself.<br />
<br />
We will be departing at<b><span style="color: #6600cc;"> 9:30 PM on Thursday from the bottom of the Brookings steps</span></b> <span style="color: black;">and heading South to the land of frozen custard and Chippewa</span><span style="color: white;">. It's an easy 6 mile ride there, and we'll take a bike friendly route (not on big roads).</span><br />
<br />
Ted Drewes (and will bike) never disappoint, so don't miss out! As always, helmets and bike lights are recommended.<br />
<br />
See you then,<br />

<br />
Tuesday is the day for some local food!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: medium;">Will Bike for Food will be biking to Local Harvest Cafe</span> (<a href="http://www.localharvestcafe.com/">yum here</a>) for Bike Night <span style="font-size: medium;">tomorrow</span>. Bike Night means 2 for 1 sandwiches, $2 Schafly, $3 domestic beers, if you ride in on your bicycle.<br />
<br />
Local Harvest is fantastic and delicious, and features affordable sandwiches, smoothies and soups with ingredients from local farms and distributors. One of my favorite places in the city.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUthwZrt07M99LvEcIdWNCxhuh-7RMv7Oyjtd6JKoP4YBPZItG-RhSAaxcABMGQ__urmT4hJvH6I5VMyywFR-wtQFUxZ2m3GyuIVaAzLDKXOS3HYwY9_8aKAZofTllDeTmFc1PGwhWiPU/s1600/sub-logo-cafe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="60" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUthwZrt07M99LvEcIdWNCxhuh-7RMv7Oyjtd6JKoP4YBPZItG-RhSAaxcABMGQ__urmT4hJvH6I5VMyywFR-wtQFUxZ2m3GyuIVaAzLDKXOS3HYwY9_8aKAZofTllDeTmFc1PGwhWiPU/s200/sub-logo-cafe.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br />
It's only a short five mile ride there, through Tower Grove park. If anyone wants to bring a disc, we could play some frisbee on the way back as well.<br />
<br />

The Gumbo Shop is supposedly a good Cajun Restaurant, and I'm excited to try it out.<br /><br />The route is simple. We will meet at Brookings again at 4:30 pm this Saturday, June 12, and then bike south on Skinker until it hits Manchester. Then we take a right on Manchester and follow it until we get to the Gumbo Shop, just after McKnight. The restaurant is small, so the plan is to order takeout, and go to Tilles Park which is just a few blocks north on McKnight.<br /><br />Bring blankets, frisbees, and anything else you might want at a picnic, and I'll see you all Saturday.Danhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12245317138798640692noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-73590105288900314322010-05-31T17:13:00.000-07:002010-05-31T17:19:17.018-07:00<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_f1fNMo77Qo0/TARRekHZzOI/AAAAAAAAAGg/hzCJGUdQK28/s1600/donuts+john.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_f1fNMo77Qo0/TARRekHZzOI/AAAAAAAAAGg/hzCJGUdQK28/s320/donuts+john.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477592632322018530" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" border-collapse: collapse; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family:arial, sans-serif;font-size:13px;"><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Will Bike for Food is kicking off with the classic donut ride, to the famous John Donuts. Tonight (yes, short notice, I know), there will be a biking adventure taking place to John Donuts in Soulard, which opens with fresh baked goodies at 11 pm. It's a great 7 mile ride each way, and we'll be heading there nice and slow and friendly.<br /><br />Meet up at <span style="font-weight: bold;">Kayak's at 10:30 pm</span>, with lights and helmets and all! If you can't make it tonight...more rides to come soon! But there's nothing like a fresh-baked boston creme in the middle of the night....yumm.<br /><br />PS. There will also be some <span style="font-style: italic;">slacklining </span>outside of Graham chapel this afternoon at 4 pm. Try if you dare!<br /><br /><img src="file:///Users/Karin/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot.png" alt="" />Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-11547611873266904992009-09-23T22:42:00.000-07:002009-09-26T09:05:16.882-07:00Dancing anyone?Biking time...<br /><br />Will Bike for Food is back! For those of you who don't know us, this group was started last spring as a way to get people together to get off campus for some good biking and good eating. It went on this summer, and we did some sweet stuff and took some sweet trips around the city. But to get to the point...<br /><br />Will Bike for Food is going to the <span style="font-size:130%;">Dancing in the Street & Off the Wall Festival</span> on Grand this Saturday! It's outdoors, there is dancing to watch (or join), and with delicious FOOD as well (for sale).<br /><br />We'll be meeting at <b>3:15 PM</b>, at the corner of <b>Skinker and Forsyth (forest park side)</b>. We'll take a nice, leisurely 4 mile ride to the festival in time to see Project Bandaloop (<a href="http://projectbandaloop.org/" target="_blank">http://projectbandaloop.org/</a>)<div id=":1fx" class="ii gt"><wbr>, and do some meandering around. I'm sure we all have lots of work to do, so we'll probably head back to be home by 5:15 or so.<br /><br />For more info about the festival, see: <a href="http://www.grandcenter.org/shows_events/?event=42" target="_blank">http://www.grandcenter.org/<wbr>shows_events/?event=42</a><br /><br />Feel free to pass this along, and I hope to see you Saturday!<br /><br />-Karin<br /><br /><br />Also, for anyone interested, Greenpeace is putting on a bike ride tomorrow starting at 3:30 to protest the G20 summit:<br /><a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=667835760#/event.php?eid=156595136069" target="_blank">http://www.facebook.com/<wbr>profile.php?id=667835760#/<wbr>event.php?eid=156595136069</a></div>Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-14063844616981976022009-08-10T09:10:00.001-07:002009-08-10T09:11:15.661-07:00moonlight rambling!Courtesy of Sam Fok, we're getting together a Will Bike for Food moonlight ramble team...here's the low down:<br /><br />Fellow Bikers/Humans!<br /><br />The end of summer is nigh, and the Moonlight Ramble is near! If you've never heard about it, the Moonlight Ramble is a gigantonormotacular nighttime bike ride fundraiser with 10,000+ riders in St. Louis. In fact, they'll even give us free t-shirts and free food for volunteering! And if we get 10 or more volunteers together (which should be no problem!) they'll even give Will Bike for Food, get this, a FRAMED, COMMEMORATIVE CERTIFICATE!!! Will Bike for Food will be making our way to Local Harvest (<a href="http://www.localharvestcafe.com/" target="_blank">http://www.localharvestcafe.<wbr>com/</a>), for some lunch-time eats. It is all local and fun and delicious, and a quick seven mile ride there.<br /><br />Meet at the History Museum at noon tomorrow, and be hungry! Bring your bicycles and helmets (and a bag if you want to buy something from the local harvest grocery). Nom nom!<br /><br /><img src="file:///Users/Karin/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot.jpg" alt="" /><img src="file:///Users/Karin/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/moz-screenshot-1.jpg" alt="" /><span style="color:#888888;"></span>Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-87552549454063330952009-07-07T08:35:00.000-07:002009-07-07T08:46:33.887-07:00candy and crowns<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhStK8R9Wa0ZL0tyb5_dYFWYpS8H6zPDRBgtEI1nBLu15FvG9NVnHS2rcBBbQVeh6z5RWcRH8OZGghoZiEuBa_bmgnvVK7DihwC8hCeXtPdI98Bq0g4IbJt5uE8WJON7uRUIshs1ZnlWsM/s1600-h/photo1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 232px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhStK8R9Wa0ZL0tyb5_dYFWYpS8H6zPDRBgtEI1nBLu15FvG9NVnHS2rcBBbQVeh6z5RWcRH8OZGghoZiEuBa_bmgnvVK7DihwC8hCeXtPdI98Bq0g4IbJt5uE8WJON7uRUIshs1ZnlWsM/s320/photo1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355745008657491074" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Time for another Wednesday night will bike for food! We're heading to Crown Candy kitchen in north St. Louis, a delicious and awesome place that has been around since 1913. Get hungry for some XL milkshakes...mmmm.<br /><br />It's a quick 6.5 mile ride there, and we'll take our time getting back as to not upset our deliciously full bellies. Mobot or checking out the new sculpture park are also options for anyone who's interested afterward.<br /><br />We're meeting at the history museum at 5:30 pm, and will be heading down Lindell from there. It will be on some bigger roads than usual, so wear a helmet if you have one. Bring some cash for dinner/milkshakes/candy as well.<br /><br />Although there will be some biking going on the night before, don't let that keep you from coming out and enjoying some great stl food and riding.<br /><br />Hope to see you there!Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-7961256723498820932009-07-02T22:20:00.000-07:002009-07-02T22:26:12.802-07:00midsummer night<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em; text-indent: -1em;"><span><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="il">Sophia</span></span>:</span></span><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em;"><span>it's amazing all of the things we accomplished in 5 hours</span></span><div><span style="display: block; float: left; color: rgb(136, 136, 136);">11:49 AM </span><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em;"><span>usually it seems like you would lose time biking places, having so many people, etc</span></span></div><div><span style="display: block; float: left; color: rgb(136, 136, 136);">11:52 AM </span><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em; text-indent: -1em;"><span><span style="font-weight: bold;">me</span>: true</span></span></div><div><span style="display: block; float: left; color: rgb(136, 136, 136);"> </span><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em;"><span>we biked, lemonaded, marketed, friended, potlucked (pretty much), dined, hung out at mobot, met people, and listened to music</span></span></div><div><span style="display: block; float: left; color: rgb(136, 136, 136);">11:53 AM </span><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em;"><span>impressive</span></span></div><span style="display: block; float: left; color: rgb(136, 136, 136);"> </span><span style="display: block; padding-left: 6em; text-indent: -1em;"><span><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="il">Sophia</span></span>: exactly</span></span></div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG2Zz6XTR0qygmATxm-CLFktL4cyk4f7wu1qJmLhkjnM2wwdOsLtTkcf7Abunfa4914IK7BQtEpjoHmLIiebXBr93iaVeOniso2t6y3quA3Uy9qzgwJSGDOn6OJG8J6hWFoX348wIhgl0/s1600-h/wbff1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG2Zz6XTR0qygmATxm-CLFktL4cyk4f7wu1qJmLhkjnM2wwdOsLtTkcf7Abunfa4914IK7BQtEpjoHmLIiebXBr93iaVeOniso2t6y3quA3Uy9qzgwJSGDOn6OJG8J6hWFoX348wIhgl0/s320/wbff1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354100494453704786" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWp5-GQFUY1-1lPF4kAnpAXvgyHQJ3EsAlQTS1ufoqBWswn1IayhS_iWgUnbusM-6C6BwdiYoKOPoTUGWMCiCDCOT9Tuv8u5p56Y1wRNittJndtt_9gxNJimwz-rXXYhv9a56Bms9M4SE/s1600-h/wbff4.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWp5-GQFUY1-1lPF4kAnpAXvgyHQJ3EsAlQTS1ufoqBWswn1IayhS_iWgUnbusM-6C6BwdiYoKOPoTUGWMCiCDCOT9Tuv8u5p56Y1wRNittJndtt_9gxNJimwz-rXXYhv9a56Bms9M4SE/s320/wbff4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354100510131666946" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguUYHtriurHMwdeK-cEkMaup7VFJnoveibTyQYO5cwFyn7zO6MssxPtlHoHh6oWGYmaCxv0-DRKYvvcOG9rqHd-KEiVVitB_GFym_f3N9mhQmH8cGf-WDglnPQR8JLaXRlMuGyxhLr7x8/s1600-h/wbff5.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguUYHtriurHMwdeK-cEkMaup7VFJnoveibTyQYO5cwFyn7zO6MssxPtlHoHh6oWGYmaCxv0-DRKYvvcOG9rqHd-KEiVVitB_GFym_f3N9mhQmH8cGf-WDglnPQR8JLaXRlMuGyxhLr7x8/s320/wbff5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354100518166767586" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK4RHiS6593fkX2-hdw1ll24p2lECLpYmEaADeEFo2VkjgcOSYxrnbp-mkzGRp_G4rq8gYqgG-wzYug0x_0JODavVF0pRd-4CTx1Dg2DzbveZL0xfTbnv0BF4MrnKmgTlh6DbUMYu18Ls/s1600-h/wbff2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK4RHiS6593fkX2-hdw1ll24p2lECLpYmEaADeEFo2VkjgcOSYxrnbp-mkzGRp_G4rq8gYqgG-wzYug0x_0JODavVF0pRd-4CTx1Dg2DzbveZL0xfTbnv0BF4MrnKmgTlh6DbUMYu18Ls/s320/wbff2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354100502699981714" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div>Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-54206876023642403862009-07-01T08:20:00.000-07:002009-07-01T08:24:13.416-07:00schafly and market and mobot!Time for another foodie ride! Here's the low-down on our adventure, which will start this evening at the history museum.<br /><br />We will be departing at 5 pm for Schafly Bottleworks to hit up the Maplewood farmer's market. It's only open Wednesdays from 4-7 pm, and I've heard good things. After stocking up on some food (and drink?), we're going to trek to the Missouri Botanical Gardens in Tower Grove, where there are free jazz concerts on Wednesday nights. We'll cook some food there, and chow down on what we bought while picnicing in the gardens. When we've had our fill of food and music, we'll head back to the history museum (around 8:30 maybe). Total is only around 12 miles, but we can always detour a little (there's a new sculpture park downtown that is opening tonight).<br /><br />Since actually preparing food involves a little coordination, we're asking you for a few things. Nothing too painful:<br />1. RSVP. Shoot me an email if you think you can come, so we can plan for how many people we'll have.<br />2. Bring $3 to cover costs. We might not need this, but this would be for condiments/plates/buns/<div id=":wy" class="ii gt"><wbr>whatever we need to make this into an actual dinner.<br />3. Bring money to buy food, or some food for the picnic.<br />4. Bring a bag to carry food in.<br /><br />So meet at the front of the history museum at 5 pm. If you can't get off of work or whatever that early, you are welcome to meet us along the way (just give me a call). The concert starts at 7:30 pm, so you could even come for that.<br /><br />yum yum: <a href="http://www.schlafly.com/market.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.schlafly.com/<wbr>market.shtml</a></div>Karinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13320074563195038828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-529536111223596291.post-10083356211764001702009-06-17T08:12:00.000-07:002009-06-17T08:18:55.338-07:00da da da donuts!"MMM DONUTS"<div>--All that needs to be said as quoted by the authority on matters of the belly, Homer Simpson. <div><br /><div>Wednesday, June 17, 2009 Will Bike for Food will set off on night bike at 10 pm leaving from the History Museum and is bound for The Donut House. </div><div>an 8 mile ride in each direction will certainly make you feel guilt free while lip smack attacking your sugar fried dough. </div><div><br /></div><div>Saddle up and join us at 10 with bike lights and helmets!</div><div><br /></div><div>...s.a.dusek....</div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1
