Gooey Butter Cake

Hey everyone,

There is a bakery near Soulard that sells over 70 varieties gooey butter cake and is open until 10 pm. That means this Thursday we are going to bike there and try as many varieties as possible! Meet at 8:30 pm in front of Brookings if you want to go, and we will bike through the park, down chouteau and turn on Jefferson and then left on park to get to Park Avenue Coffee. MOBOT picnic

So for those of you who don't know, the Missouri Botanical Gardens has a kick ass music festival going on all summer long.  It is jazz every Wednesday night, with free admission to the gardens, and you can bring food and drink in to enjoy.

This Thursday, we will be BRINGING food to MoBot, to picnic and hang out and share.  Try to aim for things that can fit in a backpack or crate, but the ride is a short 5-mile easy one over to the gardens.  And it waaay beats trying to find a parking spot.

We will be meeting at 6:45 pm at Brookings to head over to the festival!  Bring food and/or drink, blankets, and bug spray.  Oh, and don't forget lights for the way home.

If you can't bring food by then, a bunch of us can head over to Local Harvest Grocery and Mokabe's Cafe which are nearby, as well as a lovely slew of restaurants on Grand if you need to grab something.

Gumbo Shop

Hey all,

This Saturday we are going to get takeout from the Gumbo Shop, and then have a picnic at a park just a few blocks away. The Gumbo Shop is supposedly a good Cajun Restaurant, and I'm excited to try it out.

The route is simple. We will meet at Brookings again at 4:30 pm this Saturday, June 12, and then bike south on Skinker until it hits Manchester. Then we take a right on Manchester and follow it until we get to the Gumbo Shop, just after McKnight. The restaurant is small, so the plan is to order takeout, and go to Tilles Park which is just a few blocks north on McKnight.

Bring blankets, frisbees, and anything else you might want at a picnic, and I'll see you all Saturday.

Will Bike for Food is kicking off with the classic donut ride, to the famous John Donuts. It opens at 11 pm and stays open all night long, meaning we'll get fresh baked donuts.

Meet in front of Brookings Hall at 10 PM on Tuesday, June 1st.

We will be taking the scenic route through Forest Park and down Choteau Ave (pronounced Show-doe). If you aren't digging the return trip, the donut shop not far from the Stadium Metrolink station; last train leaves at 12:04 PM.

Find a bike, borrow a bike, steal a bike (well, only if you know the person), and come ride with us! Helmets and bike locks recommended.

Hey slow bikers: time to hit the road again!

Will Bike for Food is going to MIDWEST MAYHEM at the city museum.

When: 7 pm to midnight, Thursday 5/13

What: 12 Bands, burlesque performances, and more!

How much: $15 admission at the city museum, or you can bike there and back for free if you don't want to pay

Food: City Museum's got a lunch counter.

We'll meet at 6:30 pm the corner of Skinker and Lindell, aka the Northwest corner of Forest Park

Dah dah donuts!

All hail the late night donut ride! Tonight (yes, short notice, I know), there will be a biking adventure taking place to John Donuts in Soulard, which opens with fresh baked goodies at 11 pm. It's a great 7 mile ride each way, and we'll be heading there nice and slow and friendly.

Meet up at Kayak's at 10:30 pm, with lights and helmets and all! If you can't make it tonight...more rides to come soon! But there's nothing like a fresh-baked boston creme in the middle of the night....yumm.

PS. There will also be some slacklining outside of Graham chapel this afternoon at 4 pm. Try if you dare!

Biking time...

Will Bike for Food is back! For those of you who don't know us, this group was started last spring as a way to get people together to get off campus for some good biking and good eating. It went on this summer, and we did some sweet stuff and took some sweet trips around the city. But to get to the point...

Will Bike for Food is going to the Dancing in the Street & Off the Wall Festival on Grand this Saturday! It's outdoors, there is dancing to watch (or join), and with delicious FOOD as well (for sale).

We'll be meeting at 3:15 PM, at the corner of Skinker and Forsyth (forest park side). We'll take a nice, leisurely 4 mile ride to the festival in time to see Project Bandaloop (http://projectbandaloop.org/)

, and do some meandering around. I'm sure we all have lots of work to do, so we'll probably head back to be home by 5:15 or so.
